Multi-Agency Investigation Leads to Largest Heroin Bust in Buffalo

It was announced on Wednesday by the New York Attorney General that the largest heroin bust in the history of Buffalo, New York had just occurred.

The operation was led by the New York Attorney General's Organized Crime Task Force and the State Police.  With 15 arrests made, a 51-count accusation indicts the alleged suspects for participating in a drug trafficking network that was believed to run heroin from the Bronx to Buffalo.

Of the 51 charges, various counts of operating as a major trafficker, criminal sale, and criminal  possession of a controlled substance were in the mix.  Possession of a controlled substance in New York runs as class A and B felonies.

The operating as a major trafficker charge, a new law added to the state last year, carries a penalty of a possible life sentence.
